GAIL JOSLIN

Gail Joslin has been Director of Handbell Ministries at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington, IL since 1988 where she currently directs four ringing choirs ranging from 3rd grade through adult.  

Gail is a solo ringer, clinician and a sales representative in Illinois for Malmark Handbells. She has taught classes at Handbell Musicians of America Area 8 conferences as well as local festivals and workshops around Illinois. This will be Gail's 18th year directing at Intergenerational Handbell Camp in Parkville MO.  She brings her enthusiasm for ringing and her commitment to teaching musicality to ringers of all levels of experience by understanding the proper use of basic ringing techniques.

She has two daughters, Cheri and Katie who are both ringers and a granddaughter, Jalyn.  Gail works full time for Bloomington Public Schools where she maintains the data base for the Special Education Department.


JANET CARTER

Janet Carter has a Music Education degree from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and High School teaching credentials from Christchurch Teachers College, Christchurch, New Zealand.  

Janet has taught music in high schools, elementary schools, and preschools and has a number of piano students, and more than 30 years experience as a church musician.

Janet is currently the Handbell Director at Community Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where she has two adult handbell choirs.  She is also the Director of Music, Youth, Small Group and Video Ministries at Saint Mark's United Methodist Church in Overland Park, Kansas, where she directs two adult handbell choirs, the chancel choir, and Contemporary Worship musicians.

Janet has been a clinician and faculty member at various handbell events including Handbell Musicians of America National, Area 8 and Area 2 events for both adults and young ringers. She is known for her “Maori Stick Games” classes, which help to develop rhythm and coordination skills for handbell ringers. Janet has successfully completed the Handbell Musicians of America Master Class on Score Study and Rehearsal Procedures for Handbell Directors and for ten years has thoroughly enjoyed being part of a team of directors at the annual Intergenerational Handbell Camp in Parkville, MO.


KIPP WILLNAUER

Kipp Willnauer began his lifelong career in church music more than 47 years ago in New Britain, CT. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Baker University and a Masters in Education Administration from University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC).

Since 1972, Kipp has taught vocal music and handbells/chimes in the elementary, middle and high schools of Gardner, and Olathe KS. He previously served as music director at both Indian Heights United Methodist Church and St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Overland Park, KS.

Kipp is currently Director of Music at King of Kings Lutheran Church and Vocal & Handchimes director in Wheatridge Middle School. Kipp is a member of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music, and Worship Arts, MENC, ACDA, NEA, & Handbell Musicians of America.


KATHY FORD

Kathy Ford taught vocal music for 28 years in the Clinton and Blue Springs Public Schools. She earned a Music Ed. degree from Baker University and a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in organ and music theory from University of Central Missouri.

She is an organist at First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs, and is director of the Chancel Choir and two adult handbell choirs. Kathy serves as a choral and handbell clinician and adjudicator in Missouri and Kansas. She also maintains a private piano studio of twenty-five students.  Professional memberships include ACDA, MCDA, MMEA, Handbell Musicians of America, and MRTA.


Kathy has a special interest in handbell ringing. Her student handbell choirs were invited to play three times for the Missouri State Music Educator’s Association. She has been a director for eighteen years at the Parkville, Mo. Intergenerational handbell camp.  She rang four years with Campanella of KC and is in her eighth year with Rezound!, Kansas City’s auditioned Community Handbell Ensemble.

Kathy and husband, Chuck, have two married sons, Chad and Tanner, daughter-in-laws, Mandy and Michelle, three grandchildren, Lilly, Drake, and Adison, and pets, Meg and Keefer.  In her spare time, Kathy assists Chuck with his private brass students as their contest accompanist, and finds some time for golfing and cross-stitching.

CHUCK FORD

Chuck Ford has been directing the instrumental ensemble at Handbell Camp for several years as well as a regular camper.  He earned a bachelor of music education from Baker University and graduate hours at University of Kansas and University of Central Missouri. 

Chuck was a public school band director for five years and has been a private brass teacher for over thirty years.  He also worked for the utility industry for twenty-five years.  He resides in Blue Springs with his musician-wife Kathy and has a private studio, Brass with Class, as well as an impressive cornet/trumpet collection. 

He is a member of the International Trumpet Guild and Mid-America Music Association.  He rings in one of his wife’s handbell choirs at church, and writes and plays trumpet hymn descants for services.  He is proud to tell you about his two sons and their families, plus his two Corgis, Keefer and Kayden.
